The University of Notre Dame seeks an experienced and passionate voice educator for a Visiting Professor of Voice position. This is a 1-year (AY 2023-2024), full-time teaching appointment, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Duties will include teaching undergraduate students in the Department of Music majoring in voice and minoring in Musical Theatre, as well as teaching graduate students in the Sacred Music Program. Depending on the candidate's interest and expertise, they may teach 1-credit "performance elective" courses in voice pedagogy and/or vocal literature.

Interested candidates should possess the following:

  • Masters degree in Voice Performance and/or Pedagogy (DMA preferred)
  • conversance in current voice science and pedagogy research 
  • competency in teaching a broad range of voice types and musical genres, especially Western Classical (i.e. experience teaching art song, oratorio, and opera) and Musical Theatre (i.e., experience teaching "belt" and "mix" voice)
  • excellent interpersonal and relational skills
  • experience teaching in higher education (preferred)
  • treble voice (preferred)
  • intermediate keyboard skills (preferred)
