Primary Purpose of Position:
The Human Resources Specialist will support the day-to-day functions of the Employment, Classification and Compensation (ECC) team. This position will complete the I-9/E-Verify submissions within three business days of employee's start date and the employment eligibility verification process prior to the deadline to ensure federal compliance. Other duties include but are not limited to sending new employee orientation emails and completing student and temporary hire actions and recruitments, graduate assistantships, work-aids, stipends, post-doctoral fellows and other duties assigned. The selected candidate will provide excellent customer service and communication with employees at all levels of the University regarding the employment eligibility requirements for new and rehired employees, data collection and entry, monthly and annual reporting. Review all new hire paperwork for accuracy and ensure all necessary forms have been received.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of federal and state employment regulations, laws and policies, applying I-9 and employment eligibility especially in the area of interpreting and guidelines and regulations; knowledge of Banner, E-Verify and BDMS Systems; proficiency knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) Applications; knowledge of record management; ability to advise and resolve questions, exercising appropriate levels to discretionary judgment; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment.
