There are opportunities available at the Blue River, Longview and Penn Valley campuses.
Preferred qualifications:
Knowledge of grounds equipment, maintenance and safety procedures.
Work Hours
Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.
Compensation
The hiring range is $34,931 to 38,075 annually. A competitive benefit package is included.

The work is very heavy work which requires exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Typical Essential Duties
- Assigns work orders to staff ensuring completion of request in a timely manner and in accordance with operational requirements.
- Develops and implements plans to maintain grounds (e.g. snow and ice removal and salting, and trash disposal; etc.) to ensure grounds are safe and attractive.
- Leads crew and assists contactors to maintain grass, beds, shrubs, trees to ensure grounds are safe and attractive.
- Applies fertilizers, pesticides to lawn and trees in an effort to maintain pest and weed free grounds.
- Acts as contract quality assurance
- Performs grounds maintenance activities, to include planting trees, plants, and shrub; mowing and raking lawns and assigned spaces; and aerating and watering lawns.
- Prepares and maintains records, and maintains and orders supplies as needed.
- Plans and designs campus landscapes according to the vision of the College to ensure grounds are safe and attractive.
- Operates equipment and machinery such as tractors, trucks, snow plows, forklifts, hedgers, and chainsaws.
- Maintains grounds equipment in a safe operating condition through scheduled and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is available when needed.
- Attends unit meetings and in-service training.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
- Knowledge of basic cleaning and grounds maintenance techniques;
- Knowledge of applicable equipment, tools and cleaning chemicals;
- Knowledge of basic training principles;
- Knowledge of computers and related software applications;
- Skilled in prioritizing and assigning work;
- Skilled in cleaning and sanitizing facilities and equipment;
- Skilled in performing landscape maintenance;
- Skilled in handling and applying applicable cleaning chemicals;
- Skilled in using applicable tools and equipment;
- Skilled in monitoring and replenishing inventory;
- Skilled in preparing records and logs;
- Skilled in training staff on routine work methods;
- Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
