Job Summary
The Department of Geography encourages applications for a Research Assistant of Sea Ice Mapping! The research assistant will assist principal investigator Morteza Karimzadeh in designing deep learning and computer vision algorithms for highly imbalanced sea ice type classes, using synthetic aperture radar imagery and ice charts as training data. The research assistant will also assist in drafting research papers and conference presentations.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Developing python code and machine learning models for sea ice segmentation, reporting results to the principal investigator, and assisting in preparing research presentations and papers.
The hiring rate for this temporary position is $31 per hour. This temporary position is not eligible for benefits; however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Geography or related field.
- Computer vision, machine learning, convolutional neural networks, knowledge of sea ice.
- Master's Degree in geography or related fields.
