Brief Summary of Work for this Position

Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and EEO Officer, the Director of Title IX and Clery Compliance has the primary responsibility for coordinating and implementing the University’s comprehensive Title IX and Clery Act compliance efforts, as well as helping to strengthen the culture that supports a safe and respectful learning, working, and living environment on campus. The Director of Title IX and Clery Compliance serves as the point of contact for coordinating the University’s efforts in response to all forms of gender-based or sexual equity issues, and he/she ensures that the University’s response is effective, timely, thorough, and follows all legal and ethical mandates.

This position also maintains and enforces the University’s Student Gender-Based/Sexual Misconduct Policy and related University gender-based harassment policies, coordinating the prompt, effective, equitable, and timely resolution of all complaints of sex discrimination, intimate partner and relationship violence, stalking, and sexual misconduct including sexual harassment, sexual assault, and sexual exploitation.

The Director of Title IX and Clery Compliance is responsible for leading the University’s strategic planning, reviews, training, education, prevention, response, data collection, analysis, reporting, and record retention regarding Title IX, the Clery Act, and related regulations.

The Director of Title IX collaborates with a wide variety of stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, the Office of General Counsel, Student Affairs, the Dean of Students, and other internal/external stakeholders in the administration of the university’s Title IX programs.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Master’s Degree, Juris Doctorate, Ph.D., Ed.D., or other advanced degrees in higher education administration or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience developing, overseeing, and/or implementing a Title IX program in a higher education setting.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with an emphasis on education and training for a variety of campus constituents.
  • Ability to remain impartial, provide appropriate and clear documentation to support all investigative conclusions, exercise good judgment while managing sensitive issues, maintain confidentiality, work under multiple deadlines and time-sensitive timelines, and collaborate collegially and effectively with diverse constituents, including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners.
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
  • Ability to analyze data and interpret federal, state, and university policy.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Juris Doctorate and five years’ experience managing compliance with Title IX and the Clery Act regulatory requirements in a higher education environment.
  • Title IX Coordinator and Investigator Training/Certification and Clery Compliance Officer Certification.
