Job Description

Summary

The Security and Systems Assistant Director ensures campus residential environments are maintained at high standards and supports both institutional and departmental goals, student success and the needs of all staff. This position oversees the Residential Life desk operations and management of housing and security software. The position supervises a team.

Essential Functions

Guest services/Desk Operations: Supervises and oversees the Residential Life guest services team, supervising 3-5 full-time staff including indirect supervision of approximately 100 student workers. The desk operation manages mail and package operations for over 100,000 packages annually. The desk operation serves as the front line in-person customer service for our halls. This position develops the training initiatives and implementation for this operation.

Software management: Manages access reporting, patron group structuring, data reporting for door access software. Provides security reports and advises on camera operation/locational needs. Supports access operational needs, including serving as resource for after-hours door access on -call staff. Assists in the development of training for door access/security needs. Serve as on-call leadership team member to address access and software issues.

Manage security access with housing software, as well as computer resource access for approximately 300 student staff members. Apply charges to student accounts, advise on charge procedures and timing. Apply semester charges in conjunction with various campus offices.

Meet with and advise on various campus partners to advice on integration, operations, impact and changes.

Budget/Operational oversight:

Assist in developing plans, resources and information-gathering to develop budgeting and planning associated with Residential Life security and software use and development. Assist in the development of operating budgets for the department. Support efforts to recoup costs associated with vandalism and various incidents. Develop and maintain resources to assist with billing and tracking methods within the department. Assist with developing policies that affect process and operation. Provide feedback and updates as needed.

Salary

Range: $50,367 – 63,000/year

GGS Level: 010

Shift

40 hours per week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Serve as on-call leadership team member to address access and software issues.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

3-5 year of clerical experience, one year of supervisory experience

Familiar with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. Utilizes custom software applications via terminal services clients and the web. Requires skills in organization and documentation.
