Job Description:

SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a full-time Registrar. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Registrar is responsible for all student records, maintenance of the course catalog in Banner; curriculum in DegreeWorks; development of the semester course schedule; registration activities; and Clearinghouse submissions. The Registrar serves as a member of, and provides guidance to, the College's Academic Policies and Curriculum Committees, and the Academic Consensus Team. The Registrar is responsible for the successful planning of resources, processes and use of technology impacting student enrollment, records and academic progress. This individual serves as the College's FERPA officer, as well as oversees budget development, and supervises the Registrar's Office staff.     

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All registration related activities including assisting with the development of the College's Academic Calendar.
  • Oversees all activities related to maintaining student and academic records, certifications, transfer credits, waivers, degree completion, and other similar transactions.
  • Oversees the administration of student veteran's benefits.
  • Oversees DegreeWorks and related programs.
  • Manages all degree, certificate, and microcredential requirements and plays an essential part in commencement preparation and activities.
  • Coordinates the master schedule in collaboration with Division/School Deans and the Vice President for Academic Affairs.   
  • Provides leadership in the Registrar's Office, including supervision, , evaluations, and hiring of staff.   
  • Develops and maintains a budget in support of the unit's responsibilities. 
  • Serves as the College's FERPA Compliance Officer.
  • Oversees monthly National Student Clearinghouse reports.
  • Serves as a standing member of Academic Consensus Team, and Curriculum and Academic Policies and Readmission Committees
  • Reviews SUNY, state, and federal academic policies and regulations and makes appropriate recommendations to campus entities. 
  • Maintains an active membership with the SUNY Registrar's Association (SUNYRA) and attends all bi-annual meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with two (2) years of professional experience in records and registration at the college level; or a Bachelor's degree with three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in records and registration at the college level.
  • Experience with Banner
  • Experience with Degree Works
  • Supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience in records and registration at the college level.
  • Full, working knowledge of the College's Academic Code
  • Demonstrated organizational, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient of Microsoft Office Excel
  • Ability to supervise staff.
