Job Description:

The Coordinator, ADA Services position is a full-time professional position. The Coordinator will support the College in the tasks required to assure equal access for students with disabilities, including determination of eligibility for services and arranging for reasonable accommodations to be provided as needed pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504) and other laws related to support of students with disabilities. The successful candidate will act as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, and community organizations serving the student population with special needs; meet directly with students in the intake process and each subsequent semester that they register for ADA services; maintain security measures to protect the privacy of student medical and disability related records and information; serve as a member of the College’s behavioral intervention and crisis response team; keep abreast of legislation relating to ADA law and Section 504 regulations; provide education and training to staff, faculty, and community on ADA services and guidelines; and assist with supervision, facilitation, and proctoring of testing services for ADA students, coordination of tutors, sign language interpreters, and other lab personnel. This position reports to the Director, ADA Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, education, rehabilitation, or a closely related field, and three years of appropriate full-time experience are required. Successful results of a background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

ANNUAL SALARY: $35,700.00 – $42,500.00

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, education, rehabilitation or closely related field; experience working with a variety of disabilities; experience in crisis response and de-escalation of crisis situations; strong computer skills; and conversational sign language skills.
