Description:
Columbia College seeks part-time (adjunct) instructors in English for Academic Purposes (EAP). The purpose of EAP program is to help non-native speakers improve their English proficiency and readiness to enroll in college degree programs which require English for academic study. The program also serves visiting international exchange students who are studying on campus for one to two-semesters. Responsibilities include teaching students at the high intermediate and/or advanced level(s). We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching, a strong interest in working with diverse students and cultures, and enthusiasm for working as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. MA, M.Ed, Ed.D, PhD in TESOL, Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, Foreign Language Education, MA in English with TESOL certification, or related discipline.
2. Native or near-native English language proficiency.
3. Experience in / familiarity with communicative language teaching, skills integration, task-based learning, and proficiency in using technology as an integrated component of classroom instruction.
4. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an instructional team and contribute to the development of the EAP program.
5. Strong interpersonal skills, cross-cultural sensitivity, and demonstrated potential to contribute positively to the College community.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated excellence in teaching English as a second, foreign, or other language with at least one year teaching experience.
2. Experience in teaching across program levels and skills.
3. Demonstrated ongoing professional development and commitment to the field.
4. International experience, which may include studying or working abroad.
5. Knowledge of a foreign language, which may include proficiency.
