Position Summary
This position is a part of the University Office of Admissions. The admissions counselor will be tasked with recruiting for the university, increasing awareness of programs and the WSSU brand, and will operate within the high touch model of admissions. All of which are goals of the University Strategic plan.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The purpose of the Office of Admissions at WSSU is to engage and educate prospective students, parents, faculty, staff and alumni as active participants in the admissions process, academic preparation, character development and community involvement at Winston-Salem State University.

This position will be expected to have the ability to measure and evaluate their own work processes, services, and products to achieve organizational goals. This position will work inside a CRM database on a daily basis, in order to track and manage individual and department goals. This position will be expected to identify strengths and weaknesses in their own performance and take necessary steps for correction. This position is expected to connect to each student within their assigned alphabet cluster through daily call campaigns, and make sure the student moves from applicant into an enrolled student. This position will also successfully complete all admissions-related training programs, and display thorough knowledge of all admissions-related training materials, policies, and procedures.

This position is expected to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers. This position will also be responsible to respond consistently and in a timely manner to external/internal customers via telephone or email to address students’ needs. This position is responsible for providing complete and accurate responses to questions from prospective and enrolling students, except that he or she does not engage in detailed discussions about financial aid programs. Customers include but are not limited to students, faculty, staff, donors, parents, and visitors, high school counselors and principals.

This position is responsible for assisting students in requesting all high school admissions documents. Assists applicants in completing application and enrollment paperwork, and executes such paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. This position is expected to assist students in successfully completing the enrollment process from application to start of class. During travel season, this position is expected to complete all travel processes completely and accurately; adhering to budgetary perimeters and university policies.

This position will work accurately and effectively within a Customer Relationship Management ( CRM ) database in order to track and communicate with prospective students, applicants, and campus visit prospects.
