Position Overview

Position Summary
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and UC directors on strategic matters impacting the division, the institution, its staff, and students; provide administrative and project management leadership on initiatives integral to student success.
  • Analyze and summarize key items, some of which are highly confidential, that come before the division; review unit outcomes for short and long-term financial implications at the institutional, divisional, and departmental level; make recommendations to the Associate Provost and Dean, Associate and Assistant Deans, and directors.
  • Oversee analysis of and policy development for issues and processes; review of processes and procedures to ensure alignment with divisional activities and institutional objectives; make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Department Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area; or Associate’s degree and four years of administrative, business, or financial management experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Masters Degree in Business Administration and minimum of 2-3 years experience in finance related positions in higher education
  • BUSINESS ADMINSTRATION This person must be able to apply well-defined accounting, budget, and business practies to address the business needs of a department unit or organization with consistent funding sources for a limted variety of functional activities or services in a well defined busines, and/or program.
  • FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Manage and monitor the 10+ budgets for University College. Develop and manage the budget processes for the seven directors of University College.
  • HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Responsible for coordinating HR functions within University College. Will manage functions associated with PeopleAdmin software and serving as liaison with the Department of Human Resources. Will assist University College with recruitment and selection functions associated with hiring processes. Complete process for hiring temporary employees.
  • INFORMATION ANALYSIS AND DECISION MAKING Ability to analyze program operations and/or financial statements for overall program administration. Prepares necessary paperwork, complies financial reports, reconciles budgets, and manages cash/credit card payments. This position requires the ability to assess and resolve new problems, to research and review policies and procedures, to analyze financial statements, and to make recommendations for approval.
  • COMMUNICATION This position requires the ability to compose and edit documents, explain and support conclusions, and respond to non-routine inquiries. Ability to foster effective working relationships that promote a sense of campus community and teamwork. Effective oral and communication skills. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
