2023 Fall EMI Full-time Faculty Position Opening


1. Title and the Number of Openings: Several openings for full-time, adjunct, or contract faculty members of EMI (English as a medium of instruction), assistant level and above.

2. Professional Expertise: Educational Psychology or Counseling Psychology.


3. Applicants with experiences in teaching courses in English at the university level will have a priority. All courses assigned will be needed to teach in English. Applicants with foreign nationality are preferred.


4. Educational and Research Background:
     A. Apart from beginning teachers with Ph.D. degree, new EMI full-time faculty must meet one of the following qualifications:
     a. Being the first or corresponding author of publication of at least two articles within the past three years in journals listed in SCI, SSCI, TSSCI, EI, A&HCI, THCI (originally THCI Core before 2016) or academic journal articles in SCOPUS. 

     b. Leading at least two research projects sponsored by National Science and Technology Council during the past three years.

     c. Publication of at least one book or monograph within the past three years; reviewer comments and proof of publication should be provided.

     Previous publications and research projects sponsored by National Science and Technology Council can offset each other.
     B. Apart from beginning teachers with Ph.D. degree, new EMI adjunct faculty must meet one of the following qualifications:

     a. Being the first or corresponding author of publication of at least two articles within the past three years in journals listed in SCI, SSCI, A&HCI, EI, TSSCI, THCI (originally THCI Core before 2016) or academic journal articles in SCOPUS.

     b. Being the first or corresponding author of original academic publications in journals of the top 5% Impact Factor in the last three years.

     c. Publication of at least one book or monograph within the past three years; reviewer comments and proof of publication should be provided.
     C.  Applicants for EMI contract faculty members must have at least master’s degree and higher. Those with the following qualifications are preferred:

     a. Has competency in teaching: General Psychology, Psychology of Personality, Human Relations, Counseling Theories, Counseling Techniques, Group Guidance and Counseling, Health Psychology, or Self-Awareness and Growth.

     b. Had experiences teaching EMI courses.

5. Applicants for EMI full-time faculty: According to the Policy of Recruitment and Retention of Distinguished Talent of NTNU, newly hired faculty will be evaluated by the performance of academic research, industrial research, or interdisciplinary research. Remuneration to the talents can be as high as NT 60,000/month, NT40,000, NT30,000, or NT10,000. First-time assistant faculty will be assisted to apply for additional incentives of NT30,000 for continuous 3 years from National Science and Technology Council. The definition of beginning teachers is anyone who received their Ph.D. within two years (from the day received degree to this employment announcement date, not including compulsory military service) and has not had any full-time teaching experiences in college and above.

6. Applicants for EMI adjunct faculty: According to Article 10 of the “Guidelines for the Appointment of Adjunct Faculty and Researchers at National Taiwan Normal University ”, project lecturers and researchers with outstanding performance may be given priority for official employment.

7. Applicants for EMI contract faculty members: According to Article 3 and 4 of the Guidelines for the Appointment of Contract Faculty Members, contract faculty members shall be limited to the rank of lecturers, and shall report at the University for at least four days per week. The basic weekly teaching hours shall be fourteen hours. Contract Faculty Members shall be exempted from research evaluation, but shall be subject to teaching and service evaluation. The appointment can be renewed after passing the evaluation. Those who do not pass evaluation or without evaluation cannot be issued renewal or promotion (new hire in different positions).
