Job Description Summary
Responsible for the overall financial management of an assigned grant portfolio and other financial matters of the school/center. Manages proposal development, budget development and related pre-award activities for diverse sponsor portfolio. Manage post award activities including account set up, monitor and review of all sponsored projects expenditures including fund projections. Monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines and meet with principal investigators to discuss and advice on any financial issues related to their portfolio. Actively participates in specific projects and will be greatly involved in a more complicated grants including training grants and program project with multiple sub-contracts.

This position is contingent upon favorable funding.

The Grants Manager will manage pre and post-award activities for a diverse sponsor portfolio within the Cardiology/CVI in the Department of Medicine. Grants Managers supports includes complicated grants (including training grants, program projects, clinical trials, and projects with multiple subcontracts), onboarding support and training for new employees, and pre-award support in budget and proposal development. The Grants Manager will manage post award activities, including account setup, and monitor/ review all sponsored projects expenditures including fund projections. They will monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines and OMB Uniform Guidance, meet with principal investigators to discuss and advise them on financial issues related to their portfolios, maintain salary grids and work with payroll coordinator to ensure faculty and staff are paid correctly, and assist in the preparation of effort reports. They will also participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission and the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for Cardiology Division. Manage proposal development, budget development and related pre-award activities for diverse sponsor portfolio. Manage post award activities including account setup, monitor and review of all sponsored projects expenditures including fund projections. Monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines and OMB Uniform Guidance. Meet with principal investigators to discuss and advise them on financial issues related to their portfolios. Maintain salary grids and work with payroll coordinator to ensure faculty and staff are paid correctly. Assist in the preparation of effort reports. Participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission. Work on the more complicated grants including clinical research grants and program project with multiple sub-contracts.

The Grants Manager B will work more independently and actively participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission. The Grants Manager B will work on the more complicated grants including training grants and program project with multiple sub-contracts Moreover, it is expected that the Grants Manager B candidate will have a greater grants management experience than the Grants Manager A candidate, such that s/he can make greater contributions, including engaging in financial analysis.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage post-award processes including closeout, monitoring and review of all charges to sponsored projects, and audit requirements for federal awards and enforcing compliance with other sponsor guidelines
  • Manage and direct proposal development, budget development and related pre-award issues for a diverse sponsor portfolio including both basic science and clinical grants
  • Oversee payroll on grants and work closely with the human resources team to ensure accuracy of salary distribution, effort reporting and other payroll related issues
  • Meet with Principal Investigators to review financial issues with their research programs and to secure their approval of reports
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
