Position Summary

The University of Oregon Oregon Hazards Lab (OHAZ) seeks several skilled seasonal field technicians to pursue our mission of real-time, multi-hazards monitoring, specifically for Earthquakes and Wildfires. Based in Eugene, this position travels across Oregon and adjacent states to maintain and operate a monitoring system that collects scientific data to increase public safety and resiliency. The duration of employment for these limited-term positions will be through the end of March 2024, with the possibility of extension based on performance and available funding to be considered in January 2024.

Field technicians will monitor, troubleshoot, repair, construct, install, test, and maintain digital instrumentation, data telemetry infrastructure, and networking systems under the supervision of 12-month employees. This position assists in the installation and maintenance of digital monitoring systems and related telemetry.

The position involves coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies to define and employ best practices and document technological innovations.

We welcome candidates with a wide variety of transferable skills and experience and encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications. Successful technicians come from a wide variety of backgrounds and we look forward to seeing what you may add to our team!
