Student Association Funding & Outreach Advisor

Job Summary: The Student Association Funding & Outreach Advisor's primary responsibilities include, through advising and administrative support, managing the student organization grant allocation process and the Student Appropriations Committee, managing the student sustainability grant allocation process and the Green Fund Allocation and Mentorship Committee, coordinating Student Association related event planning, and coordinating Student Association related travel. In conjunction with the rest of the SAPS team, this position will provide direct advising to all branches of the Student Association, including the Senate, Executive Committee, and Oversight and Appeals Commission. Through 1:1 holistic advising, assist student government officials in the development, implementation, and review of personal and organizational goals.
The mission of the Student Association at UWM is to enrich the student experience at UWM, through representation, advocacy, and the funding of services and activities that improve student life. The Student Association Professional Staff (SAPS) advise and support UWM's student representatives as they advocate for the student body through campus projects and initiatives, meetings with campus and system administration, and the allocation of student fees.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience working with college-age students in a leadership,
mentoring, or coaching capacity
Preferred Qualifications - Master's Degree in higher education, student affairs,
counseling, or a related field
- Experience working with and/or advising student governance or
students in leadership positions in higher education
- Experience interpreting and communicating institutional
policies, rules, and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, collaborate,
and foster mutually-beneficial working relationships with diverse
constituencies, including but not limited to students, faculty,
staff, campus leadership, and external entities Demonstrated
ability to coach students through ethical decision-making
processes/appropriate use of student resources
- Experience implementing culturally competent leadership
development and training
- Experience managing logistics and developing systems and
processes in work that is highly detail-oriented
