Assistant Professor of Psychology, Visiting

Florida Southern College is regularly accepting applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor, Psychology to teach courses at the undergraduate level commencing in the Fall semester, 2023.  The position entails teaching four classes per semester with the following courses required:  Research Methods/Statistics; Introduction to Clinical and Counseling Psychology; and Introduction to the Social World (an intro course for the major).  A fourth course will be assigned as needed upon hire.  The position is full-time and includes benefits (e.g., health insurance).  Summer teaching is not required but may be elected on an overload basis.  Reappointments are made on an annual basis at the discretion of the department chair and college dean.

The position also entails attending departmental governance and working with departmental faculty on projects as they arise.  No additional service to the college or research activity is expected although we would prefer a faculty member who is willing to work with students on research projects and can advise them on graduate school opportunities.  Support for professional development is available.

About the ideal candidate:

The minimum academic qualification to teach at FSC is a Master’s degree that includes 18 graduate hours in the area the applicant desires to teach. Terminal degreed applicants (e.g., PhD) are preferred.   Three years of professional experience is preferred.

A copy of unofficial transcripts must be provided with employment application materials. Applicants who receive their degrees outside the U.S. are required to have their transcript (s) evaluated by an approved educational evaluation service. This evaluation must be done at your own expense prior to being considered for employment by Florida Southern College.
