Job Summary

Leeds School of Business encourages applications for the Sherman R. Miller Executive Director of the University of Colorado Real Estate Center (CUREC). The Executive Director is responsible for the vision and strategy of the Center and leading the Center’s operations. In partnership with a committed faculty, this role will:
  • Support a world-class real estate curriculum at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Prepare students to be leaders in the real estate industry.
  • Facilitate dynamic and relevant dialogue between students, faculty and industry leaders around land use, real estate development, real estate asset management and capital markets.
  • Meaningfully engage CU alumni and friends with the Center, the Leeds School, and CU Boulder.
  • Develop internship opportunities for students, with permanent job placement as the ultimate goal.
  • Hold an annual conference with local, national, and international speakers to address major issues facing the real estate industry, both locally and nationally.
  • Provide resources to support the real estate curriculum while facilitating academic and industry real estate research.
  • Build the reputation of Leeds as a leader in Real Estate.
  • Collaborate with other Leeds Centers and finance faculty.
  • Supervise the Associate Director of Operations, and together, support the development of the Real Estate Center staff.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Strategically lead the Center to incorporate and facilitate industry evolutions and standard methodologies for the betterment of our programs and students.
  • Increase engagement of alumni and business leaders with Center activities through unique events, individual meetings, and strong partnerships with faculty and staff within the Leeds School. This includes management of the International Advisory Board, a volunteer group of 50+ real estate leaders.
  • Raise funds to support daily operations and build the Center’s endowment.
  • Foster industry and academic relationships that place the Center and University real estate programs in the highest regard.
  • Share knowledge of standard methodologies in real estate development, real estate asset management and capital markets with faculty, staff and students; and provide mentoring and guidance to our students.
  • Proactively collaborate and partner with other units within Leeds to achieve goals.
What You Should Know

This position offers a hybrid work modality with both on-site and remote work hours. Travel is required for this position, including approximately 5-6 trips per year.

What We Can Offer
  • The hiring range for this position is $160,000 - $190,000 annually. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

What We Require
  • A Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience in senior leadership roles in publicly or privately held real estate-related companies, professional real estate associations, or university real estate centers. A combination of education and relevant experience will substitute.
What You Will Need
  • A leader with strong strategic, tactical and execution skills.
  • Proven experience in team-building, organizational management, and personnel supervision.
  • Expert communication skills with a variety of audiences and communication channels.
  • Influential national (or global) networks in Real Estate.
  • Proven experience working effectively with executive-level individuals, and ability to build support for programs, initiatives and ideas among this constituency.
  • Passion for higher education and developing students.
  • Promotes creating an inclusive environment to reflect our values and vision at Leeds.
  • Dedication to developing employees through continuous coaching, support and mentoring.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • 10 years of experience and success in senior leadership roles in publicly or privately held real estate-related companies, professional real estate associations, or university real estate centers.
  • Extensive contacts within the real estate and business community.
  • Professional experience working within an academic setting.
  • Proven ability to raise funds for program support.
  • Advanced degree in a related field.
