PLACEMENT: Support staff, grade 9t
MINIMUM PAY RATE:t$25.98 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
Facilitates and implements student workshops, tutoring and skills sessions intended to enhance students’ success and increase retention in the nursing program. Facilitate open lab times for students. Assist with simulation as needed. Position requires flexibility in scheduling; some evening and Saturday hours may be necessary to meet the needs of the students.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct annual needs survey of the nursing students; record received feedback and uses it in planning sessions and workshops.
2. Collaborate with faculty in planning and implementing NSL learning experiences for students in tutoring, guided skill labs, workshops, and open lab.
3. Demonstrate and observe return demonstration of clinical nursing skills for students.
4. Tutor students in nursing theory and skill at all levels.
5. Communicate with faculty regarding students’ progress and skill development.
6. Assist with simulation on an as needed basis.
7. Develop and provide evaluation tool to all students.
8. Participate in required meetings and serve on committees.
9. Utilize the designated reporting system to produce reports regarding lab usage, student satisfaction, and other indicators regarding the lab.
10. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Current RN license in the State of Illinois.
2. Master’s Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Nursing in progress;
3. Two (2) years of current clinical experience.
4. Proficiency in personal computer use and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Demonstrate clinical competence and professionalism thereby serving as a role model to the nursing students.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
8. Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Work with pre-licensure nursing students.
2. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
3. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

1. Standard classroom equipment and software.
2. Standard hospital equipment and software.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Classroom, skills lab, and simulation teaching environment.

Internal candidates must adhere to the terms of employment regarding length of time in current position as outlined in their union contract.
