The QIA Center for Professional Education and Research at the Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar – Business Research Scientist

The Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMUQ) seeks a highly motivated, hardworking Business Research Scientist team at QIA Center for Professional Education and Research (The Center). The candidate is expected to work closely with different stakeholders to research, analyze and create educational case studies that highlights current and relevant regional business and finance challenges and solutions.

This position requires strong analytical and research skills, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. The candidate is expected to contribute in initating and developing impactful regional business case studies that enhance learner’s critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This is a full-time position at the university.

Duties:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand and analyze complex business situations, strategies, and industry trends.
  • Work collaboratively with the faculty in designing and creating content for the cases to be used for classroom teaching.
  • Conduct research to gather relevant data and information for case development.
  • Craft well-structured and engaging case studies and teaching material that present realistic business scenarios and challenges.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the case content, including data, facts, and references.
  • Edit and revise cases based on feedback from various stakeholders, ensuring clarity and coherence.
Required:
  • A graduate degree in business, management, or a related field from an accredited university. A graduate degree is a plus.
  • Familiarity with business concepts, industries, and management practices.
  • Strong analytical and research skills to understand complex business problems and translate them into compelling narratives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prior experience in academia or educational publishing is preferred but not required.
Contract Duration: This is a 1-year contract and will be in accordance with the Carnegie Mellon University policy and guidelines. The Lead Case Writer should be available to start no later than September 2023. The position may be considered for renewal after year-end review.
