May 2023

We invite applications for a post-doctoral researcher to join the Coastal Hazards, Equity, Economic prosperity, and Resilience (CHEER) Hub (www.drc.udel.edu/cheer/). This interdisciplinary, multi-university, multi-year project is funded by the National Science Foundation (award abstract).

The postdoc will focus on modeling the impacts of climate change on the housing market. This work will link to ongoing research at the intersection of regional hurricane risk, structural engineering, systems modeling, human behavior, insurance, and public policy to understand housing and development policy pathways to address climate change in hurricane-prone areas. The selected postdoc will work collaboratively with researchers in economics, engineering, sociology, and public policy to enrich a computational modeling framework to be used for policy analysis.

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in real estate, urban planning, urban land economics, finance, or economics focused on real estate markets or other relevant disciplines. Strong quantitative and communication skills and an ability to work independently are desirable.

Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with qualifications/experience. This project offers an opportunity to gain experience with state-of-the-art modeling for a compelling application as part of a highly productive, interdisciplinary team. It can provide an excellent foundation for an academic career.
