Job Summary/Basic Functions
EKU's Emergency Medical Care Program is hiring for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position to join our enthusiastic, highly-experienced team of prehospital emergency medicine educators.
Successful candidates will have the aptitude to teach and mentor students in our EKU community, demonstrate experience working successfully in a collaborative environment, be ready and willing to develop and deliver didactic and clinical skills lessons at the EMT and Paramedic level in accordance with the current National EMS Education Instructional Guidelines.
Candidates who do not already have the required NAEMSE Level I Instructor and KBEMS EMS Educator Endorsement must be willing to undergo the certification after the hiring process is complete.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Experience: Required Qualifications:
1) Current NREMT or state-level Paramedic Licensure (with eligibility to obtain Kentucky Paramediclicensure if licensed in a different state) or higher related licensure
2) Master's degree OR higher AND at least 2 years of field experience as a paramedic AND 3 years of
instructor/educator experience in EMS
OR
Baccalaureate degree AND at least 10 years of field experience as a paramedic AND 3 years of
instructor/educator experience in EMS
3) Availability to teach in-person courses on EKU's Main Campus
Licensure & Certifications: Preferred Qualifications:
-National Association of EMS Educators - Level I Instructor (or ability to obtain after hiring)
-Kentucky Board of EMS - EMS Educator endorsement in accordance with 202 KAR 7:601 (or ability to
obtain after hiring)
-American Heart Association - BLS Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor
-National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians - PHTLS/ITLS Instructor
