Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director of Transfer Admission, the Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions works closely with the Undergraduate Admissions staff and other enrollment management team members to recruit, admit, and enroll students from 2-year and 4-year institutions across our primary and secondary markets. This professional will manage an assigned recruitment territory which will include travel to off-campus recruitment events as well as the evaluation of application files for admission decisions and transfer credit equivalencies. In addition, this position supports and promotes a variety of articulation agreements within the Saint Peter’s community, which provide a seamless transfer experience for incoming students across each of our enterprise partnership programs.
The successful candidate will need to have an understanding of not only the admissions and credit equivalency process, but must also be an ambassador for financial affordability. This position is well suited for a professional who can work both independently and as a collegial team member, both within Undergraduate Admissions, as well as across the Saint Peter’s community.
Candidates must have a driver’s license and be willing to travel.

Duties & Responsibilities

1) Managing a case-load of prospective transfer students from the point of prospect through
enrollment, including responding to inquiries, following up on potential leads, reviewing
applications, initial credit evaluation, and assisting with yield initiatives.
2) Create and manage personal work schedule; arranging travel, managing approved travel budget
and tracking individual expenses.
3) Executing admission decisions based on set parameters and directions; using technology
and the University system to enter data.
4) Communicating transfer credit policies to student and assisting with the credit evaluation
process, in collaboration with Academic Affairs.
5) Attend on-campus Admissions events, such as Open House and Accepted Student Days, as
well as serving as a freshman counselor in the absence of other team members.
6) Conduct data entry in CRM and student information system
7) Participate in professional development (internal, external, self-directed) in order to remain
apprised of topics in higher education, secondary education and other sources that may impact
admissions and enrollment at the University
8) Responsible for individual projects and assignments beyond the general duties of an assistant
director/admission counselor.
9) Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management/Director of
Admissions.

Qualification Standards

1.Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
2.1-2 years years of experience in a customer service or sales environment.
3.A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
4. Demonstrated ability to present information clearly an in an engaging manner to large and small
groups
5.Must be able to load and transport admissions materials weighing up to 30 lbs
6.Must be willing to commit to six to ten weeks of seasonal travel each year (local and distance)
and in addition to set weekend/evening obligations (Open House programs and special events)
7. Candidates must be eligible to work full-time in the United States.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Physical Demands

Experience

1. Ability and willingness to perform both professional and technical/administrative/clerical tasks.
2. Ability to appropriately use and demonstrate proficiency with standard office productivity software, tools, and University systems, such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite equivalents.
3. Ability to efficiently organize and manage large amounts of data, information, and records;
attention to detail; and well-organized.
4. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and at all levels of the organization. Strong written and communication skills, along with the ability to build relationships with various members of the organization.
5. Ability to provide high-quality, strong customer-oriented services, including problem-solving
orientation; strong listening skills; expertise in advising and consulting; history of coordinated work
effort with extensive follow-through and follow-up; experience identifying customer needs; conflict
resolution; ability to put customers before self; and creation of user-friendly communications.

Working Conditions
  • Full-time; 52 weeks per year. In addition to regular business hours, the person in this position must be able to be flexible around the needs of the University, which includes occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
Physical requirements

1. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
2. The person in this position needs to move about both inside the office and at other locations
where interviews and meetings are conducted.
3. Frequently operates a computer for extended periods of time.
4. Frequently communicates with others over the phone and in person; must be able to exchange
accurate information in these situations.
5. Ability to speak clearly and communicate proficiently in English.
