CT Instructor in Strategic Communication

The Department of Communication at the University of Delaware invites applications for a Continuing Track Instructor position in Strategic Communication. The effective start date is August 16, 2023. QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The selected candidate must have a Master’s degree, preferably in communication, public relations, journalism, or a related field, and should have industry experience working in an agency or in a corporate, government, or non-profit organization. Expertise in digital and social media is highly desirable.

Ideal candidates will have a strong network of industry contacts to leverage for experiential learning and professional development opportunities. Teaching experience is preferred, but not required. Candidates who hold an active membership or accreditation with a national industry association (e.g., PRSA or IABC) are strongly encouraged to apply.

The individual chosen for this position will work on UD’s central campus in Newark and will teach courses in the online Master of Arts in Strategic Communication program and in the rapidly growing undergraduate public relations concentration. The Strategic Communication program offers an asynchronous online learning experience to meet the needs of working professionals. COMMUNICATION AT UD: The Department has Ph.D. and M.A. programs in Communication, a Strategic Communication M.A. Program, and a robust undergraduate program with more than 700 majors. To facilitate collaborative opportunities, outreach, and research, the Department is home to the Center for Health Communication and the Interpersonal Communication and Media Processes Research Lab. Communication faculty are also closely involved with the College of Arts and Sciences’ Center for Political Communication, which houses the college’s Journalism minor. The Department has experienced significant growth in its graduate programs in the last three years, and highly qualified candidates should be able to work across disciplines and serve in a leadership capacity as needed.

The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Delaware offers exceptional educational experiences including integrated instruction, research and public engagement. With 24 academic departments and more than 25 centers, programs and institutes, the College serves close to 7,000 undergraduate students and over 1,000 graduate students with CAS majors, but also every single University student through foundational course work.
