Job Details

Montgomery County Community College invites applications for the Part-Time Production Electrician and Programmer position.  The Part-Time Production Electrician and Programmer will lead the in-house interns, assigned by the Program Technical Coordinator, in the areas of production electrics and light board programming. The PE/P is responsible for implementing the lighting design of the Lively Arts Resident Lighting Designer, artists, and other guest designers. In addition, they will assist in the smooth technical setup and execution of all Lively Arts Series events (Blue Bell and Pottstown) on and off campus, provide mentorship to production interns, and provide support for college internal events and external rentals, plus additional shows on and off campus as assigned by the Program Technical Coordinator (PTC).

*This position will serve both the Pottstown and the Blue Bell campuses; must have a valid driver's license.

**Flexibility in schedule to working days, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and occasionally on-call as needed.

***This position requires the new hire to submit the Child Abuse clearance, the PA State Police clearance, and FBI Fingerprint results to Human Resources, prior to their first day of employment.

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theater or related field a plus. Three years’ work experience as an electrician and/or programmer in a theatrical setting. Must be self-motivated and able to take initiative and assume responsibility for completing tasks and projects with deadlines.                                                          Proficient knowledge of electricity and electrical safety. Strong knowledge of, and ability to troubleshoot networking of various lighting equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and correct electrical problems. Strong programming knowledge of the ETC EOS line of consoles, especially ION Xe.  Additional console experience is a plus. Design experience and knowledge of basic lighting design concepts. Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Good communications skills with crew members, supervisors, artists personalities, and possess a positive attitude and team-oriented work ethic. Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Flexibility in schedule to working days, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and occasionally on-call as needed.
  • Must be comfortable with heights, working in personnel and scissor lifts, working on a catwalk, and reaching below to hang/adjust equipment, and ability to climb ladders. This position works with minors and will require all clearances prior to starting position; PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Clearance, and FBI Fingerprints. Must know how to tie common theatrical knots and have experience with basic rigging techniques and equipment. Always maintains and adheres to safety procedures.
