Statement of Job:

The University of Southern Maine’s Biology Department invites applicants for our Human Anatomy and Physiology Lab for the Fall 2023 semester, beginning August 28, 2023.

We are seeking a student-focused instructors who will have full responsibility for course delivery and grading.

Practical Human Anatomy and Physiology (BIO 112) Laboratory experiences illustrating concepts and principles introduced in Human Anatomy and Physiology (BIO 111) and Human Anatomy and Physiology for Biology Majors (BIO 221). The course will cover the following topics: metrics, language of anatomy, cell physiology, tissues, integumentary system, skeletal system, muscular system, and nervous system.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience. In addition, USM employees can use their USM Card to access the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center(s). USM also offers part-time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD) and the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or related discipline.
  • Experience relevant to the topics covered in the course.
  • A masters degree in biology or related discipline is strongly preferred, or significant course work or job experience in biology or related disciplines but not required.
