Woosong University is expanding our existing departments and programs, as well as launching new departments and programs. As such, there are numerous Assistant Professor positions available.

Full-time Assistant Professor of Hotel Management

Woosong University’s Department of Global Hotel Management invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Hotel Management, to begin during the Fall 2023 semester.

Daejeon, South Korea

Remuneration and Benefits:

Salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

In addition to your salary, you will receive:

  • housing (upon availability) 
  • flight reimbursement (for applicants coming to Korea from abroad)
  • applicants coming to Korea from abroad will also receive a settlement allowance of 100,000 won per day that they arrive before their start date, up to a maximum of 15 days  
  • 4 weeks (20 working days) of paid vacation each year.
  • Basic health insurance through the national health insurance plan
  • Membership in the private Korea Teachers Pension (monthly contribution: approximately 9% of your salary
  • Opportunities for financial compensation for publishing in recognized peer-reviewed journals

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have:

  • A Ph.D with a major in Hotel Management or related field
  • At least 5 years of practical experience
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience

 

Or:

  • A Master's with a major in Hotel Management or related field
  • At least 10 years of practical experience
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience

Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Experience with classroom teaching, training, curriculum development and implementation;
  • An understanding of and commitment to the mission of the school;
  • A demonstrated commitment to student learning;
  • Experience using a variety of teaching and assessment techniques, especially including technology, that enhance student success;
  • A strong ability to work well with people of all ages, from academically, culturally, and economically diverse backgrounds;
  • The ability to work well as a member of an international, multi-cultural team; and
  • The ability to work independently and with minimal supervision to achieve high-quality learning outcomes and student satisfaction.

Core teaching responsibilities:

Successful candidates will teach courses including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Hospitality Accounting, International Hospitality Management, Sustainable Approaches to Hospitality, Hospitality Business Planning and Development, International Hospitality Management, Strategic Leadership in the Hospitality Industry, Hospitality Human Resource Management, Hospitality Financial Management, MICE Management, Human Resource in Hospitality and Tourism Industry, Hospitality Relationship Management, Managing Front Office Operations

Teaching assignments are made based upon the department’s needs and are not limited to the above.

Department description:

Our department fosters future experts who will lead the hotel tourism industry. Our program combines European-style practical education with an American-style theoretical education system, research faculty and specialized facilities for practical education.
