Job Summary

This position will work at the Hope Place Family Resource Center in Brewton, AL.

This is a one-year limited-term position. Continued employment is based on the continuation of extramural funding and is subject to renewal on an annual basis.

Since 1990, Hope Place has served families and individuals of Escambia County with referrals, resources and support services. The Alabama Cooperative Extension Agent Assistant will work in and serve clients in Escambia County as part of the mission of the Hope Place Family Resource Center and has the opportunity to positively impact residents of Escambia County.

Our mission statement: To provide education and outreach support for families enabling them to reach self-sufficiency and prevent child abuse and neglect. Our programs represent services to families parenting and co-parenting, youth in career preparation, 1st – 8th grade learning centers, youth GED preparation and adult life skills.

EXTENSION : The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is the outreach organization for the land grant mission of Alabama A&M University and Auburn University. Its educational programs grow from these two land grant university campuses to serve the people of Alabama. Science-based educational programs are delivered that enable people to improve their quality of life and economic well-being. Essential Functions
  • Provide programming and scheduling of project staff and participants.
  • Case management data collection for grant reporting and agency referral..
  • Program implementation, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Assists in serving participants and walk-ins to receive services to support their need and educational plan

  • Works to coordinate classes in a timely manner and also delivers reporting back to referrals and the legal counsel as required.

  • Some clerical work including processing vendor vouchers, travel, purchasing card payments and coordinating time sheet submission
The Agent Assistant will work a flexible 40-hour work week schedule that may include some early mornings and late afternoons, based on the needs of participants.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Level I High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of experience in the organization and/or presentation of pre-designed educational programs/services, customer service, administrative support/clerical or related experience.

Level II High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 years of experience in the organization and/or presentation of pre-designed educational programs/services, customer service, administrative support/clerical or related experience.

Substitutions allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

  • Effective communication and human relation skills
  • A working knowledge of operating a personal computer, including a demonstrated competency using Microsoft Office software
