GLIMPSE INTO THE JOB
The Coordinator of Military Affiliated Student Outreach and Engagement assists in the overall coordination and execution of programs and events designed to provide transition, orientation, yield, and student engagement for all incoming and current Military-Connected Students. This includes orientation, yield event participation, and all other activities to engage with current and prospective Military-Connected students.

DESCRIPTION
FUNCTIONAL AREA 1: OUTREACH & ENGAGEMENT
PERCENT EFFORT: 40%
  • Coordinate the planning and executing of programs and events designed to provide transition, orientation, yield, and student engagement for all incoming and current Military-Connected students.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of logistical operations for each planned event.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating practices and procedures (including documented record keeping and data collection) for the Office of Military and Veteran Services.


FUNCTIONAL AREA 2: RECRUITMENT & YEILD
PERCENT EFFORT: 40%
  • Attend and help facilitate recruitment, yield, and outreach programs as needed.
  • Facilitate presentations at recruitment, yield, and outreach programs as needed.
  • Assist areas in the Division of Enrollment Management in supporting overall goals and objectives related to Military-Connected programs in the student enrollment life cycle as needed.


FUNCTIONAL AREA 3: EDUCATION BENEFITS
PERCENT EFFORT: 10%
  • Assists with certifying Veteran and Military-Connected Federal Education Benefits by reporting
    enrollment and graduation information to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to ensure the
    University's compliance with State and Federal Regulations.

  • Assists with the University's implementation of the Hazlewood Exemption Act. Determines student eligibility for Hazlewood benefits. Also monitors cumulative credit hours for students per term, ensuring that benefits are correctly applied and accounted for. Oversees compliance with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and TVC rules and reporting on
    Hazlewood.



FUNCTIONAL AREA 4: OTHER DUTIES
PERCENT EFFORT: 10%
  • All other duties as assigned by the Assistant to the Vice President & Director of Strategic Projects or Associate Director of Outreach and Engagement in Military and Veteran Services or their designees.


WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2 years of experience in student engagement, recruitment, or related fields.
  • Experience in working with event planning.
  • Proficiency in modern computer programs.
  • Strong organizational ability.
  • Ability to work independently as needed
  • Willingness to travel and work non-traditional hours.


WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE

  • Military Benefits Certification experience.
  • Experience planning multi-faceted events.
  • Ability to make presentations and speak to groups.
  • Experience working with and/or supervising college students/groups.
  • Experience working on a college campus.


SALARY: $35,000 - $40,000/annually, dependent upon experience.
