Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates retention activities with the Dean of Education in conjunction with the University & College retention plans.
  • Work collaboratively with COE Department Chairs, Faculty Academic Advisors, and Professional Academic Advisors.
  • Assigns COE faculty advisors in collaboration with Department Chairs & Program Coordinators.
  • Devise a plan of action in partnership with the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning ( CETL ) for faculty development concerning retention efforts. Analyze and maintain student data specific to COE .
  • Analyze COE students mid-term performance data.
  • Meet & work with at-risk/academic probation students of sophomore, junior & senior status.
  • Meet and work with transfer students of sophomore, junior & senior status.
  • Provide referrals to students for appropriate support services as needed.
  • Work closely with the University Academic Advisement Center to transition students at the appropriate stage of their progression plan from the Center to the College. Teach Freshman Seminar.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • Master’s degree required in Education, Counseling, or related field.
Experience
  • Experience with retention initiatives preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Strong communication, organizational, and problem solving skills. Proficiency in the use of a variety of software applications, including spreadsheets, database systems, and statistical packages.
