POSITION : Assistant/Associate Professor. This is a nine-month tenure-track position in the School of Kinesiology beginning no sooner than January 2025 and no later than August 2025. Rank will be determined based on the requirements for Associate Professor as described in the School of Kinesiology, College of Education, and Auburn University tenure and promotion guidelines. We are seeking applicants with research and teaching expertise in Motor Behavior. Ideally, the candidate will focus on motor behavior, investigating the learning, development, and/or control of movement; the neural underpinnings of movement; or the psychology of sport and/or exercise. The School of Kinesiology is housed in the College of Education. The School offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Kinesiology. Auburn University is ranked in the top fifty public universities (U.S. News & World Report) and the School of Kinesiology doctoral program is ranked in the top fifteen by the National Academy of Kinesiology Ranking of Doctoral Programs (2023). The School of Kinesiology is located in a state-of-the-art building as sole occupant. Current equipment and research capabilities available in our building include electroencephalography, functional near infrared spectroscopy, electromyography, motion capture, a Biodex Balance, system, Biodex isokinetic system, space for exercise interventions/training, accelerometers, and DEXA .
Auburn University is a partner of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Center for Clinical and Translational Science ( CCTS ). The School of Kinesiology actively participates in several of the training programs, professional development resources, and funding mechanisms provided by the CCTS . Auburn also has an MRI Research Center with the capability to scan with a Siemens 7 Tesla for research needs, and a Siemens Skyra open bore 3T scanner for clinical and research use.
Ø Develop or augment national and international recognition, as evidenced by a strong record of impactful publications, citations, and presentations in national and international venues, and acquisition of external funding
Ø Engage in rigorous research resulting in scholarly publications, preferably peer-reviewed journal articles in prestigious outlets
Ø Teach undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral level courses in the area of motor behavior at an excellent level in support of the School of Kinesiology program
Ø Recruiting, advising, mentoring, and training graduate students
Ø Direct student research including projects, theses, and dissertations
Ø Participate in the planning and implementation of curricular changes for the program and School
Ø Provide institutional service as assigned by the School Director
Ø Engage in professional service within the discipline and/or community
Ø Participate in professional activities to ensure the well-being of the program, school, and college
Ø Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment

Minimum Qualifications
Ø Earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, or related field with an area of specialization in Motor Behavior (broadly defined) by start date
Ø Postdoctoral training or equivalent experience
Ø Evidence of accomplishment or potential in grant scholarship and external funding
Ø Strong publication record
Ø Evidence of innovative and impactful research
Ø Experience or demonstrated potential to teach graduate courses within the program’s degree offerings
Ø Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Ø Background or interest in fostering excellence
Ø Interest in collaboration

Desired Qualifications
