Position Description

The Department of Education invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2023. We seek an outstanding teacher/scholar with expertise in elementary education as related to urban education and diverse populations/learners. The successful candidate must have a doctorate in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to effectively teach a variety of courses in Elementary Education, including those specifically focused on reading, language arts, and social studies. The preferred candidate will be able to support teacher accreditation processes and reports. Candidates must evidence the ability to conduct scholarly activity at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, and a desire towards interdisciplinary research. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to working with women and underrepresented minority students through teaching, mentoring, and research are especially encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field. ABD candidates may be considered only if they will have their degree conferred no later than August 2023.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with an established record (three (3) or more years) of elementary classroom teaching experience and demonstrated knowledge of teacher preparation accreditation standards.
