VMI is accepting applications for the full-time position of Inspector General/Title IX Coordinator, reporting to the Superintendent.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting investigations into issues involving student or employee misconduct, anonymously reported instances of fraud, waste or abuse, issues affecting operational efficiency or effectiveness; and investigating and responding to complaints from faculty, staff, and cadets.
- The position serves as the Institute’s Title IX Coordinator, ensuring compliance with regulations, conducting investigations into alleged violations, and administering a training program on discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct.
- The position serves on the Institute’s Violence Prevention, Drug and Alcohol, and Institute Planning Committees. Briefing audiences is expected.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience with sexual harassment, sexual assault, and other forms of sexual misconduct and power based personal violence investigations in an academic setting.
- Background and training in conducting sensitive and confidential investigations.
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively conduct investigations in an objective manner.
- Strong organizational, planning, analytical and problem resolution abilities.
- Experience in compliance with laws, regulations, and guidelines related to gender issues, harassment and discrimination.
- Demonstrated superior judgment with ability to effectively represent the Institute in investigations and other dealings on a variety of sensitive and confidential issues.
- Must have experience conducting investigations, including interviewing, evidence collection, obtaining statements from witnesses, and preparing reports of findings and recommendations.
- Requires experience developing, providing and evaluating training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or J.D. preferred
- Experience in higher education preferred, including positions as an Inspector General or Title IX coordinator.
