Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) brings together researchers, physicians and educators to focus on ways to prevent and treat cardiac problems through basic research, clinical investigation, diagnosis, treatment, and public education. This position will help to support the exciting events, training, research, and outreach programs of the Center and its affiliated faculty. This position will be fast-paced and provide the opportunity to use a mixture of expertise.

Responsibilities: Responsible for a variety of professional level work across a variety of administrative service areas including budget, finance, procurement, and human resources with impact across the institution in support of unit or institutional goals.
  • 30% Implements and executes established policies and procedures for a designated work unit to adhere to unit objectives and to align with established strategies
  • 30% Schedules logistics and secures resources for a designated work unit to contribute to the day-to-day operational success
  • 5% Analyzes data and trends, compiles progress reports, and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions in support of the assigned operational work unit(s)
  • 5% Assists, recommends, and advises staff on unit or program administrative issues, personnel matters, and budgetary problems
  • 10% Serves on committees and attends meetings, representing the interests of the unit or program
  • 10% Provides outreach support for the CVRC (event flyers and emails, webpage updates, etc.)
  • 5% Provides financial and research administration backup support for the CVRC
  • 5% Provides support for the training programs of the CVRC (including federal T32 training program)

Qualifications:

Required:
- 2 years of experience in an administrative role
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work quickly, accurately, and prioritize workload in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience working on special events
- Experience working with basic financial operations such as purchasing, reimbursement, and related fiscal tasks

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 60% - 100%

This position requires some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. This position will occasionally provide event support outside of standard work hours. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Additional Information:

Effective January 1, 2020, the U.S. Department of Labor Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be updated to require that positions earning less than $35,568 annually be considered non-exempt under FLSA provisions for overtime (see h ttps://www.dol.gov/whd/overtime2019/ ). Based on these rules, if the person selected for this recruitment will earn less than the new salary threshold at January 1, 2020 ($35,568 annually), he/she will be an academic staff non-exempt employee, will be paid hourly, and will receive overtime compensation for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
