Pay Range

The compensation for this appointment will range from $64,480 – $87,000 annually and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this staff appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.

Position Summary Information

Summary

Located in the Office of Student Success, Disability Services is dedicated to creating an accessible learning environment and equal access for CBU undergraduate and graduate students with specific disabilities. In support of this mission, we invite qualified applicants to apply for the position of Director of Disability Services. Reporting to the Dean of Academic Persistence and Support, this position will be responsible for maintaining existing and developing future services, resources, programs, events, and outreach opportunities by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Review and interpret student confidential medical and psychological evaluations to determine eligibility for services and appropriate accommodations.
  2. Develop, monitor, adjust, and evaluate individual accommodation plans for students.
  3. Provide ongoing student case management, follow-up, and support of accommodations both in and out of the classroom, as well as related faculty support and advocacy.
  4. Maintain confidential student files, records, and correspondence while tracking and compiling Disability Services usage information.
  5. Develop, coordinate, and implement faculty/staff training, workshops, and seminars on disability laws, policies, and serving students with disabilities.
  6. Provide information about disability-related services and documentation requirements to current and prospective students, university administration, faculty, staff, parents, and high school teachers/counselors.
  7. Keep up to date with trends in ADA compliance and accommodation issues;
  8. Participate in professional development and other projects/activities as needed to support students with disabilities.
  9. Manage and maintain budget expenditures for Disability Services.
  10. Assist the Dean of Academic Persistence and Support with other Student Success responsibilities and initiatives.
  11. Duties may require evening and weekend work.


Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
  • Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
Education and/or Experience

Master’s degree from four-year college or university; and/or two to three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
