Job Description

The UMKC Bloch School of Management is looking for an experienced Director of Career Services known for their experience in career planning, budgeting, and program development and their ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, a team of direct reports, and community members. The Director of Career Services at the Bloch School of Management oversees the designing and implementation of a comprehensive set of career services and career programs for the Bloch School’s undergraduate and graduate students.

The UMKC Bloch Career Center is dedicated to providing comprehensive career services and programs for Bloch School’s undergraduate and graduate students. Those services include professional development programs, career education and customized programming, data collection and reporting, and one-on-one career coaching. The UMKC Bloch Career Center engages with partner organizations to coordinate experiential learning and internship opportunities, career fairs, employer site visits, and on-campus employer engagement initiatives designed to improve our students' career outcomes and future professional success.

Qualified candidates will be able to interact effectively with people within and outside of the university setting and possess excellent communication skills and leadership abilities. This individual must have the dedication necessary to meet the career needs of Bloch School’s students and the recruitment needs of employers within the Kansas City community and beyond.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Effective planning, budgeting, and personnel management to meet short and long-term operational goals to ensure quality programs and services.

  • Develop strong, ongoing relationships with HR executives and professionals, industry leaders, career coaches, and mentoring volunteers from external employers.

  • Build and maintain relationships with Bloch staff and faculty focused on student success and community outreach, UMKC Career Services, and UMKC Foundation staff.

  • Supervise a team implementing career service programs for Bloch School’s undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Provides oversight and significantly contributes to career planning, employment, and recruitment programs and services.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and

  • A minimum 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in career planning work, preferably in an academic setting.

Full Time/Part Time

Full-time (40 hours per week), benefit-eligible staff position.

Salary

Up to $90,000 commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
