The office of Alumni Relations in the UMKC Division of Advancement and the UMKC Foundation supports involvement and engagement of alumni across the university through events, philanthropy, mentorship of students, activities and by serving as a voice for more than 134,000 alumni who graduated from or attended UMKC. Job Description

The Office of Alumni Relations in the UMKC Division of Advancement and the UMKC Foundation supports involvement is seeking an Assistant Director, Alumni Relations. This position will report to the Managing Director of Alumni Relations. This role will lead efforts and work in tandem with the Managing Director to meet the department goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the coordination of UMKC Alumni Governing Board Meetings and programs including but not limited to: Alumni Awards, UMKC Blue and Gold Week, Regional Alumni Events
  • Leads efforts regarding administrative work related to the Governing Board including but not limited to:
    • Coordination of Alumni Governing Board finances
    • Management/Coordination of all Alumni Benefit/affinity programs (travel, insurance, apparel, license plate program, partnership with Career Services)
  • Leads efforts regarding Regional Clubs and Cultural and Affinity Groups related to the Governing Board.
  • Oversees or manages committees related to the Governing Board.
  • Manage Alumni Relations sponsored events, in collaboration with our university colleagues in the Office of External Relations and Constituent Engagement as needed.
  • Oversees recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers for alumni programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion on the development and outreach to community partners.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Communications to manage communications for Alumni Relations such as email communications, newsletters, website content, correspondence, and social media.
  • Digital engagement execution
  • Be the first point of contact for external constituents reaching out to the Alumni Relations Office, ensuring information and changes to current and future alumni. Uses judgment to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems.
  • Work closely with the department of Annual Giving, Advancement Services, and Stewardship Offices.
  • Be the point the person of the Alumni Relations team when the Managing Director is not available.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Three or more years’ experience in alumni/constituent relations, volunteer management and/or fund raising/annual giving.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be innovative, creative, self-motivated, strategic, proactive and a team player.
Salary

$56,864 - $66,000 per year commensurate on education, experience, and internal equity.
