JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Florida’s only public university exclusively teaching science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is looking for exceptional candidates to serve as the Coordinator of Residential Life & Student Experience.

The Residential Life & Student Experience Coordinator is a live-in position providing direct support of a comprehensive residential life program at Florida Polytechnic University. This role directly supports the student experience and is committed to providing a safe and inclusive residential experience that empowers residents to develop and grow in their leadership, collaboration, innovation and adaptability.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitate a co-curricular residential life experience that is guided by university and student affairs values;
  • Delivery of a quality residential assistant training curriculum and experience;
  • Serve as a judicial hearing officer for student conduct;
  • Participate in on-call crisis response for the residence halls;
  • Implement programs and initiatives that enhance the living-learning experience by providing a holistic approach to working with RAs and residents;
  • Organize, lead and manage Resident Assistants;
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for concerns regarding the emotional, physical, and academic well-being of all students;
  • Initiate, present and participate in training for Resident Assistants, as well as other Student Affairs staff.
  • Spearhead and assist with large-scale department wide events, programs and initiatives offered to the entire campus community relating to topics around leadership, collaboration, innovation, adaptability, social justice/diversity, sustainability, community engagement, and more
  • Assist with departmental responsibilities including but not limited to residence halls opening and closing, room selection and assignment processes, room and building inventories, building/room and damage assessments, keys and access, facilities operations, occupancy management and charges, and residential documentation;
  • Work in collaboration with campus partners to plan and coordinate intervention programs for at-risk students;
  • Serve as a resource for campus support services available to students, making necessary referrals to other campus support services as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of student learning theory and developmental outcomes, and experience in its application;
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written);
  • Crisis management experience;
  • Ability to build teams and work collaboratively;
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Proven personal initiative, problem-solving skills and customer service etiquette;
  • Disposition and proven work ethic to handle busy work cycles that include evenings and weekends;
  • Experience collaborating with administrative services, operations, housekeeping/ facilities, campus police, as well as other parties integral to the resident hall experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience: One to three years full or part time experience in residential life, housing, student activities or student affairs.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in the area of Counseling, Psychology, Higher Education or a related field.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • This position requires a criminal background check, which may include a Level II screening as required by Florida Statute §435.04.
  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: This position is salary exempt. This is a live-in position that will have on-duty and off-duty hours scheduled accordingly.

TARGET HIRING SALARY: $36,030 annually. Housing accommodations provided.
