Job Description

The University of Indianapolis (Ulndy) Department of Theatre in the Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor of Theatre. This is a full-time, tenure-track appointment. The Assistant Professor of Theatre will teach courses in Play Analysis, Dramaturgy, Theatre History, Playwriting, Applied Theatre, Acting, and other courses as needed. Interdisciplinary work across academic fields is highly prized. The position will also include the opportunity to direct at least one show per academic year and advise on the completion of senior capstones.

Additional service to the University will include acting as an academic advisor for majors within the department as well as committee work within the university.

Responsibilities - Assistant Professor of Theatre (Tenure-track)
  • Teaches courses in Play Analysis, Dramaturgy, Theatre History, Playwriting, Applied Theatre, and Acting
  • Provides service to the School, University, and Community
  • Ability to direct at least one show per academic year
  • Advises on the completion of senior capstones
  • Acts as an academic advisor for majors within the department
Qualifications - Assistant Professor of Theatre, (Tenure-track)
  • A terminal degree in Theatre or a related field required
  • 5+ years of university-level teaching experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a smaller liberal arts framework is essential
  • Prior directing experience is desirable
