Job Details

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Coordinator advances the University’s DEI and international education goals by developing and implementing initiatives to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students, providing administrative and coordinating support to the DEI committee and international education services, and supports faculty and staff in integrating DEI considerations into their work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Serves as the internal expert on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

· Serves as the DSO (Designated School Officer) for international students.

· Maintains knowledge of international and diversity-related issues, legislation, and promising practices.

· Researches, develops, recommends, and executes creative programs/events to foster the University’s diversity, equity, and inclusion & international education services' goals.

· Act as a thought partner with the DEI Committee and Student Development Center leadership on DEI and international education-related issues.

· Reviews and analyzes current practices and policies to assess how much they support or hinder the University’s diversity & international education services' goals.

· Collects and analyzes statistical data to evaluate the University’s population in accordance with diversity standards and goals.

· Develops and/or acquires training and development tools to support diversity, recruitment, and retention initiatives for special student populations.

· Provides logistical, administrative, coordination, and general support for International Education Services and the DEI Committee, including:

· Convenes regular meetings, prepare agendas, and facilitates discussions/ meeting participation.

· Manages workflow, maintains records, and supports the implementation of international education and Committee-driven initiatives.

· Manages communications related to position-sponsored activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skill, experience, and ability.

· Knowledge of IES/DEI issues related to race, culture, gender, socioeconomic status, rank, sexual orientation, religion, age/generation, and ability with an in-depth understanding of at least two of these areas. This understanding may come from any combination of studies, personal life, and work experiences.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and dispute-resolution skills.

· Skills in managing committees, collaborative projects, and change processes.

· Ability to respect multiple perspectives and embrace complexity.

· Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.

· Ability to develop diverse knowledge by being eager to learn, learning from mistakes, and being open to giving and receiving feedback.

EDUCATION:

· Bachelor's Degree in Human Relations or a related field.

· Two years of professional experience in a diversity, inclusion, or international services role.

· Master's Degree preferred.
