Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor Position

We seek a licensed clinical psychologist for a Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor position, non-tenure track, in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program (1-year term, 10-month appointment, September 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024). We are a clinical science program that highly values evidence-based practice.  We have a specialty emphasis in children, adolescents, and families and our Center for Child and Family Psychology primarily serves these populations. We value high-quality clinical training and all core faculty also provide clinical supervision.

The individual will teach a total of 6 course equivalents per year as assigned, divided between supervising clinical PhD graduate students in clinical work and teaching graduate & undergraduate courses. The exact breakdown of course equivalents is anticipated to be approximately 3-4 supervision sections and 2-3 courses, but final assignment will be dependent on departmental needs.

The individual in this position will be a valued member of our collaborative clinical supervision group and may provide both individual and group supervision in intervention and assessment. Supervision experience and strong familiarity with evidence-based child and family therapeutic approaches is essential. Clinical supervisors are expected to meet weekly with trainees for didactics and case-specific supervision (individual and/or group supervision), watch videos of client sessions, oversee clinical administrative tasks, and ensure compliance with ethical and legal statutes.

All youth-focused, licensed clinical psychologists are encouraged to apply; specialization in evidence-based therapy approaches for externalizing behavior problems (e.g., Parent-Child Interaction Therapy/PCIT, Parent Management Training/PMT, and other behavioral parenting approaches) and/or expertise in comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessment approaches (e.g., integration of structured clinical interview, questionnaire, and cognitive & academic testing data) is highly desirable. Applicants who contribute to the university’s mission to serve the public good and those who have experience working with traditionally underserved populations are also especially encouraged to apply.

Our department’s vision, to be an inclusive intellectual community that fosters discovery and innovation, is embedded within the University of Denver’s vision to be a great private university dedicated to the public good. The University values Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), recognizing that its success is dependent on how well it values, engages, and includes the rich diversity of constituents (to learn more about our commitments at the University of Denver, please visit https://www.du.edu/equity). Candidates must apply online through https://jobs.du.edu/ to be considered. Only applications submitted online will be accepted. Please include a letter of interest, a vita, a statement that addresses teaching and clinical experience & approaches, a DEI statement, and 3 letters of recommendation. Also include names and contact information of three individuals that can serve as references. All questions can be directed to Department Chair, Sarah Watamura, PhD at sarah.watamura@du.edu.
