The Women’s and Gender Studies program (WGST) and the Capitol Applied Learning Labs (CALL) at Georgetown University invite applications for a three-year, non-tenure-line Assistant Teaching Professor position in Gender and the Law to begin in August 2023. The position is open as to research and teaching specialization. The ideal candidate will use a feminist lens to assess the legal implications of provisional categories such as gender, sexuality, disability, race, and nativity in the United States.  We welcome a variety of theoretical, methodological, and practical approaches to the teaching of gender and law. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work demonstrates their knowledge and commitment to the discipline of Women’s and Gender Studies.

The Women’s and Gender Studies program is an interdisciplinary unit that fosters critical, feminist, and cross-cultural understanding of women, gender, and power in a global context. As a robust program in the College of Arts & Sciences, Women’s and Gender Studies encourages the critical interrogation of traditional academic disciplines by complicating the intersections of race, class, (dis)ability, gender, and sexuality. The Women’s and Gender Studies program attracts students from across the country and around the world. The program values new perspectives and is deeply committed to building a more open discipline that seeks excellence wherever it may lie.

The Capitol Applied Learning Labs (CALL) is a curated learning experience for Georgetown undergraduate students that integrates curricular, co-curricular, and experiential learning. Situated at Georgetown’s downtown Capitol Campus, the CALL animates transformative pathways for students to study, live, and intern while immersed in the broader Washington, D.C., community.  The CALL is launching an Advancing Women's Empowerment and Service (AWES) program in Fall 2023.

The standard teaching load is three courses per semesterwith teaching responsibilities at both the CALL and in the WGST program on Georgetown’s main campus. The position would serve as a liaison between WGST and the CALL, helping the CALL build their AWES program.
