Reporting to the Senior Director of Prospect Management, the Prospect Management Specialist will prioritize and leverage Prospect Management’s resources to support the university’s ongoing fundraising efforts. Specifically, this individual will provide decision and process support for Prospect Management in guiding practices and procedures. As such, this individual will be essential for consulting with major gift officers and filling the need to provide training and consultation to annual gift officers, leadership officers, and development coordinators.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires at least a bachelors degree
  • Three plus years of full-time professional experience in relationship management, prospect research, development, sales, marketing, business administration, higher education, or project management
  • Advanced degree in a field demonstrated to have some relevance to this position
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures
  • Previous development experience and/or a background in a non-profit or educational institution are preferred
  • Blackbaud CRM or other fundraising software experience desirable
  • Experience using Qlik Sense (analytics software platform)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES and/or COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of Prospect Management and Prospect Tracking principles and methods
  • Ability to keep accurate records and complete timely reports
  • Knowledge of process, ethics, and policies of professional fundraising
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ethical, mature individual who will exercise discretion regarding sensitive and confidential information
  • Solid knowledge of database management and spreadsheet software
  • Experience with Excel, Access, and other information management databases (to be used to join and analyze data from multiple tables) and able to adapt to and use future technologies
  • Ability to prioritize duties and achieve planned goals for a complex program 
  • Familiarity with advancement computing systems

ABOUT THE OFFICE OF RESEARCH

The Office of Prospect Research identifies, evaluates, and analyzes relevant information about individual prospects and donors and provides research reports, briefings, and data mining services in support of the University’s development and campaign efforts. As stewards of UGA’s institutional fundraising memory, the office archives and makes available historical records and prospect research findings that provide context for ongoing strategies.
