Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Coordinates logistics, services, and support surrounding Outreach and Recruitment . Position represents Lone Star College System both internally and externally with high schools and ISD's. May specialize in one specific area (for example, Early Intervention Programs). Includes coordinating support functions of direct public/student contact programs and areas to ensure smooth operations, including performing task oriented duties while providing clerical, analytical, administrative, and operational support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Develops and delivers workshops on a variety of personal and academic topics
  • Represents LSCS at a variety of Outreach events, seminars and workshops
  • Meets with high school students and parents to advise on options and opportunities at Lone Star College System; Explains the admissions and registration process, and ensures that students successfully complete the process
  • Provides enrollment/admissions-related information and assistance to potential, new, and returning students, including but not limited to System and Campus enrollment processed, section selections, semester load and schedule questions, enrollment/registration paperwork and online registration assistance, etc.
  • Works with faculty and staff to promote the program activities and materials; Creates and implements a feedback system for faculty to communicate program results
  • Prepares accurate Human Resources paperwork and documentation for department; maintains personnel files as well as student records
  • Provides confidential administrative support, including but not limited to coordinating schedules and calendars, answering phones, managing supplies and office equipment, planning and coordinating meeting and seminars, etc.
  • May assist with planning, monitoring, balancing, and managing the department budget
  • Provides a variety of data entry functions in iStar (PeopleSoft) and other systems
  • Serves as technical resource and team lead to lower level Admissions staff
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned


  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    • Knowledge in use of personal computers and current office software
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills for working with students, faculty, and staff
    • Ability to quickly learn new instructional software programs
    • Ability to teach and communicate well, both verbally and in writing
    PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
    • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High school diploma or GED and at least 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Associate's degree

    Hiring salary range is $36,057 - $41,466.

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
