The Community Outreach Team (COT), a program of the Center for Nonviolence and Social Justice at Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health is looking for a Senior Community Health Worker Peer to join the Community Outreach Team (COT). The Community Outreach Team (COT) provides assertive outreach, engagement and therapeutic interventions to young people receiving services at local youth focused organizations including Valley Youth House, Students Run Philly Style, YouthBuild Charter School, Mural Arts Restorative Justice Program, New Foundations Charter School, etc. COT is composed of a Program Manager and several Community Health Worker Peers (CHWP). The Senior CHWP will provide in-person and remote outreach services at each partner site and will draw on their lived experience to develop trusting relationships with potential clients. The Senior CHWP will be responsible for assisting COT’s Program Manager with guidance and mentorship of COT’s CHWPs, and direct supervision of at least 1 Healing Centered Learning (HCL) Intern. The Senior CHWP will also be a key contact for staff at partner sites and will be involved in developing and implementing specific interventions at each site, including:
• CYPHER (Community of Young People Healing, Experiencing, and Rebuilding) groups, a culturally relevant group intervention based closely on the evidence informed S.E.L.F. (Safety, Emotions, Loss, Future) trauma recovery groups, which have proven effective in mitigating the effects of trauma. These concepts are interwoven with trauma education and coping skills related to both a group member’s current injury, as well as his or her lifetime adversity.

• Individual Behavioral Health Treatment: The CHWP will also provide linkage to community resources and information about and referrals to more structured trauma therapy through the HHP program.
