Adjunct Faculty - Introductory Biology I CBEN110
The Opportunity
The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Faculty position to co-teach introductory biology course and two lab sections for the Fall 2023 semester. We are seeking candidates with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology who are passionate about education and committed to providing students with an exceptional learning experience.
Responsibilities
- Co-teach our introductory biology course and two lab sections, with a focus on molecular and cellular biology, to undergraduate students at the Colorado School of Mines.
- Prepare course materials, including lectures, assignments, exams, and lab activities, as required.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to assist and mentor students.
- Assess and provide timely feedback on student performance, including grading assignments and exams
- Collaborate with other faculty members to continuously improve course content and teaching methodologies.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, or a closely related field (preferred).
- Prior teaching experience, especially at the college or university level (preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse group of students and faculty.
- Commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Pay Range
Mines is offering $10,000-$12,000
Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
