Job Description Summary

The Department of Clinical Sciences at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time Clinical Track position at the level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in the Food and Fiber Animal Section. The individual selected will provide independent care and case management, participate in teaching and clinical service within the Food and Fiber Section of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, provide didactic lectures in the professional curriculum, and participate in graduate student and resident/intern training programs. Teaching contributions to the Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine’s Public and One Health undergraduate major are encouraged.

The duties of this position will be divided between clinical responsibilities, didactic lectures, graduate and resident training, outreach, and service. The case load of the food and fiber animal section predominately consists of beef cattle, small ruminants, camelids, dairy cattle, and swine, and is a combination of production and hobby livestock. All clinical services are offered during regular daytime hours, and all faculty and house officers share responsibility for after-hour emergency services. An expectation for the position is to advance the production medicine caseload of the Food and Fiber Animal Section. Depending on the incumbent’s experience and interests, collaborative participation in research is desired.

Minimum Qualifications

A DVM or equivalent degree and eligibility for veterinary licensure in the states of Alabama and Georgia is required at the time employment begins. The candidate must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of the appointment and be able to continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Excellent communication skills with clients, students, and colleagues are expected.

Desired Qualifications

An advanced degree in an applicable field and board certification or board eligibility are desirable, but candidates without board certification are also encouraged to apply. Applicable specialty colleges include: American or European College including: Theriogenology; Internal Medicine – Large Animal; Veterinary Surgery – Large Animal; or Board of Veterinary Practitioners – Beef Cattle Practice or Food Animal Practice).
