The Assistant Director Title IX & Deputy Title IX Coordinator will conduct intake and evaluation of Title IX incidents and/or reports to ensure an efficient and effective response to Title IX violations and concerns. The incumbent will also serve as a lead investigator in reports of sex discrimination and sex-based harassment. The Assistant Director Title IX & Deputy Title IX Coordinator will oversee the development and implementation of Title IX training and education programs for students, faculty, staff, volunteers, and others. In partnership with other offices, the Assistant Director Title IX & Deputy Title IX Coordinator will assist in coordinating a comprehensive compliance program to meet the requirements of various federal and state laws and statutes. The Assistant Director Title IX & Deputy Title IX Coordinator will also provide support in the collection of data, assessments, programming, and special projects.

 

Essential Functions

  • Investigations and Adjudication - Conduct prompt, equitable, and impartial investigations into reports of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, gender-related violence, including stalking and relationship violence, and other forms of sexual misconduct or violence. Investigations include identifying and interviewing parties; identifying, gathering, and assessing/analyzing information relevant to the investigation; applying relevant policies; and make findings of credibility. Create and maintain accurate and thorough written investigative reports that identify the issues and summarize the evidence. Provide periodic, timely updates regarding the status of reports received and investigations in progress to the Title IX Coordinator, Director Office of Title IX. Participate in hearings as the investigator for the case. Serve as the administrative hearing chair over Title IX and Sexual Misconduct cases through the Office of the Dean of Students. Intake and Evaluation – Conducts timely and thorough intake and evaluation of reports of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, gender-related violence, including stalking and relationship violence, and other forms of sexual misconduct or violence. Intake and evaluation include gathering and assessing information to determine next steps in the Title IX process. Provide guidance and assistance for non-title ix reports and concerns and forward to the Office of the Dean of Students, Equity and Compliance, or other appropriate offices. Training and Education – Participate in the development and implementation of Title IX training programs for students, faculty, staff, and others. This will include online training, in-service training, and trainings submitted by request. Monitor the trainings delivered through Bridge and serves as a liaison for the content submissions and revisions for Get Inclusive platform. Works with internal stakeholders to develop a comprehensive marketing and communication plan for different aspects of the Title IX policy and process. Compliance and Assessment - Work with the Clery Team to develop and implement the institution's comprehensive program for compliance with the Clery Act, Title IX, and related laws and regulations. Gain expertise in Maxient management software to create and access analytics for reporting. Oversee the Ohio Department of Education Changing Campus Climate Survey. Other - Assist, as needed or assigned, with policy development, programming, committees, identify and integrating Title IX best practices for the campus community, and other forms of outreach. Participate in local, regional and/or national professional associations or organizations.

 

Minimum Qualifications

The following Degree is required:

  • Master's Degree.  Degree must be conferred at time of application. Master's Degree in Higher Education, Human Resources, Criminal Justice, Organizational Development, Sociology, or related field is preferred

The following Experience is required:

  • 2 years of professional experience working in a university setting 1 year of professional experience with complaint, grievance resolution, or conflict resolution 2 years of graduate assistantship will equate to 1 year of professional experience

1 year of professional experience conducting investigations 2 years of graduate assistantship will equate to 1 year of professional experience

  • Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem-solving techniques, interviewing, and investigation Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive and confidential situations Strong presentation and facilitation skills with an emphasis on education and training for a variety of constituencies  Exceptional critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze information, evaluate results, facilitate resolution Exceptional organizational and planning skills, with a sensitivity to timelines Skill in writing concise, logical analytical reports to convey complex issues Ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to listen and demonstrate sensitivity and respect for all individual Ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with staff at all levels of the University Demonstrate ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students, faculty, parents, international populations, administrators, and community partners and stakeholders) with diplomacy and tact Maintain professional qualifications through on-going training and professional development Ability to read and interpret complex documents to evaluate their impact on University policy and procedures Working knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations, due process protection, Clery Act and reporting, Title IX, VAWA, and FERPA
