Position Summary:

Faculty members deliver instruction, carry out research, perform service for their respective professions and community, and participate in the management of the University through shared governance. Each member of the faculty has the duty to deliver instruction and maintain a learning environment consistent with the highest standards of the profession. The faculty has a responsibility to set degree requirements, assess when they are met, and establish and maintain curricula that meet professional standards and fulfill the educational goals of the University

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Teach twelve hours each semester (Fall and Spring) and 6 hours each summer session, specifically in the laboratory disciplines of Microbiology (includes Virology, Parasitology, and Mycology) and Immunology/Serology Assist in developing, evaluating, and modifying the curriculum in the associate and baccalaureate CLS programs Assist in developing, evaluating, and modifying departmental and programmatic policies and procedures Aid the program director in the collection and analysis of data related to student achievement and program outcomes for Office of Assessment and NAACLS Participate in the recruitment of CLS students Participate in the selection of course textbooks Aid in the selection and admission of applicants to the professional program Actively participate in regular faculty meetings, advisory board meetings, and affiliation visits Accurately maintain advising records on assigned advisees Serve on University, College, and Department committees as needed Maintain national, regional, state, and local professional organization membership Initiate and/or participate in research activities related to the field of CLS
  • Communicate professional concerns and interests to Chair
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Skilled in Microsoft Office and Canvas

Ability to work with others and communicate both verbally and in writing

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Master's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field; Doctorate preferred

Hold Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) from ASCP
Have at least five (5) years of professional/clinical experience, preferably in Microbiology
Have at least three (3) years of teaching experience, preferably in Microbiology
