About the Opportunity

The Department of Health Sciences in the Bouve College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University is seeking a part-time faculty member to teach at Mills College at Northeastern located in Oakland, CA in the Spring 2024 semester. Through its research, teaching, and engagement missions, the Bouve College collaborates across the university, the Northeastern network, and with partners around the globe. Responsibilities:

The Department of Health Sciences is seeking applicants to teach the 4-credit introductory Human Nutrition course, which examines the fundamental role of nutrition in promoting health and how lifestyle and the socioecological model work together. The course covers the physiological functions of energy-providing nutrients in the body and interrelationships, including the key functions of macronutrients and micronutrients. It introduces the use of two different diet assessment tools to assist individuals in selecting food for health promotion.

Responsibilities include: using syllabus provided to guide the course; developing assignments, assessments and course schedule to meet required learning outcomes; developing and delivering course content using the Mills College at Northeastern teaching and learning platforms and facilities; holding appropriate office hours; engaging with departmental and university part-time faculty obligations as required. The courses will be taught in person on the Mills College at Northeastern campus in Oakland, CA. Undergraduate courses are scheduled between the hours of 8:30am-6:10pm.

Qualifications:

Applicants are required to have a minimum of a Masters degree or equivalent in Nutrition, Health Sciences, Public Health, or related field. Doctoral degrees are preferred, and teaching experience in the area of Nutrition is preferred.
