VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS AND DEAN OF THE COLLEGE

Ursinus College, an acclaimed national liberal arts institution well known for a pioneering curricular philosophy that fuses the academic and residential experience, invites inquiries and applications for a collaborative, creative, and bold leader to join this exceptional campus community as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College (VPAA).

Ursinus College with 1,500 students located on a 170-acre campus, is located just 25 miles from Center City Philadelphia in the town of Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Montgomery County, in which Ursinus sits at the heart, is the ninth best place in the United States to raise a family, according to Forbes. In addition, Ursinus ranks among the top 100 national liberal arts colleges by U.S. News, where they are #74 for Best Value Schools and tied for #70 for social mobility.

The College has embarked on a new era of innovation with the inauguration of President Robyn Hannigan, Ph.D., and the election of the college’s new board chair, Joseph M. DeSimone, Ph.D., ’86 P’12. These leaders are both talented academicians, with impressive accomplishments in the private sector. A cornerstone of this new era is the Quest for Success Strategic Framework—a vibrant, sustainable framework that builds on Ursinus’ unparalleled commitment to liberal education and considerable strengths to guide the college to greater excellence. The new VPAA will have a highly desirable opportunity to partner with their new colleagues to ensure successful implementation of Quest for Success.

Ursinus seeks an innovative and visionary leader with significant academic and administrative experience and accomplishments. The new VPAA will join a vibrant community that champions achievement, diversity, freedom of inquiry, collegiality, civility, caring, and respect for all. This next academic year, we will have 36 majors and more than 70 programs of study, supported by three unique research and experiential centers— each of which facilitates a synthesis of ideas across disciplines.

Ursinus College seeks a VPAA who will provide creative and inclusive leadership and partnership with faculty, staff, and administrators across the college. Strong candidacies will require a substantial track record of academic and managerial achievements, an ability and commitment to plan with input from all college stakeholders, and the courage to make and champion informed decisions. Personal characteristics of caring and authenticity are crucial. Experience in a small, private, liberal arts institution is strongly preferred.
